Let’s talk about EDI requirements for a retail giant we all know and love: Target.
As a supplier, you know that getting your products into Target is like hitting the center of the bullseye.
But you must be EDI-compliant.
Like all major retailers, Target has a list of various standards that all suppliers must follow.
Some of these requirements include use of EFT with its accounts payable team, certificate of insurance, rules for drop shipping, a vendor code of conduct, and following EDI (electronic data interchange) protocols.
There’s a lot to take in when onboarding for Target, but the EDI part doesn’t have to be a hassle. BOLD VAN is a Target-approved EDI vendor, so let’s take a look at how we can work for you.
1) EDI Documents for Target
Allow BOLD VAN to make sure you comply with the common EDI documents Target requires:
- 810 – Invoice
- 846 – Inventory Inquiry/Advice/Content
- 850 – Purchase Order
- 855 – Purchase Order Acknowledgement
- 856 – Shipment Notice/Manifest
- 860 – Purchase Order Change Request – Buyer Initiated
- 864 – Text Message
This list may change, so please verify Target’s EDI requirements or contact BOLD VAN and we’ll help you!
2) EDI Shipping Module
We offer an EDI-compliant shipping module called DES that follows all of Target’s requirements. DES stands for distribution enablement system — a low-cost, versatile application that makes shipping a breeze.
DES allows you to manage the entire pick-and-ship process from one place for many types of shipments. DES integrates with 3PLs to arrange shipping dates, carriers, shipping methods, and more. Rest assured knowing you’re following all of Target’s EDI requirements. (DES is compatible with other major retailers, as well.)
DES takes charge of: EDI requirements, creating GS1/UCC labels, automating the entire shipping process (including ship notices), dock planning for both deliveries and shipments, and finding inefficiencies in your warehouse. That’s correct, DES will find any broken links in the chain, because it provides a closer look at receiving efficiency, picking accuracy, inventory turnaround, and more. (I drilled down on this point in Spotting and Correcting Warehouse Inefficiencies.)
